Kazak Royal
Origin:
This style of carpet is mainly made by the Afghan refugees weavers, establishes on the Afghan-Pakistani border near "Ghazni" (also city from which the wool of very high quality). They strive to respect the ancestral knowledge of carpet "Kazak" Caucasus region of south-eastern Europe, south-west of Russia.
Made initially in the nineties in the Khyber Pass region by refugees from Afghanistan and from 2005 in the middle and the north of afghanistan. Completely handmade with ecological, hand-spun wool, vegetable dyes, authentic centuries-old mastery and tradition.
Features:
These solid rugs have a rustic and bright abstract simple designs, mostly geometric, accompanied by bright contrasting colors. Sometimes, stylized animal motifs may also be present.
- Knotted with Turkish knot (turkbaf).
- Density: from 900 to 1600 knots/dm².
- Background colors usually brick-red, dark blue or beige with colorful motifs.
- Handspun wool for the pile.
- The warp (extension fringes) in wool or cotton.
Note:
These carpets are often singular variations that may appear, depending on your point of view, either as a default or as a quality, but is anyway a strange characteristic: the color of certain motifs or the background sometimes varies from one place to another, and it may even change completely. This change of color, called "abrash" occurs mainly in carpets of old manufacture. The presence of "abrash" proves that the carpet was spun and dyed by hand. Indeed, it is difficult when dyed by craftsmen, to find the same color in two successive dye baths.
